Saw a set of solar powered traffic lights today, each one had it's own solar panel, but what is puzzling me is how they manage them to change in sync with each other, there didn't seem to be any physical connection between the two set of lights ( if there was I didn't see it).

"Sets of traffic lights are usually radio linked together, insuring wire-less communication between the lights. A master traffic light connected to a computerized controller/sequencer synchronizes and controls the slave units"

Thank you Chris, fully explained.
Makes you wonder how they work in winter on dull day and indeed nights.
Reminds me of the traffic report I heard in Dublin about an area of roadworks where the traffic lights were out of synch at night when nobody was there to reset them. Both were showing the same colour at the same time. I believe fists were flying and blood was spilled.
