I let someone else use my computer

A mistake in itself, but too late to retract. Anyway, every time I log on now a large box comes up asking me to sign on to Windows Live Messenger, which I do not want. I have tried to get rid of it but it is still there, although now it lacks her name and has Example at the top. I am not very computer literate so am hoping one of you egg-heads out there can help me get rid of it. Simple steps please, otherwise I won't know what you mean.

Next time you let someone use your computer (assuming you are using Windows):

Set a new user account for them in Windows (easy to do)

Set it as a limited account so they cant do anything "major" (like install new software)

When they have finished using the PC then delete the account.

Easy to you perhaps, VHG, but not to me. I have no idea how the computer works, I just use it and hope for the best. Thanks for your help. I shall try and do what you have suggested, but too late for the one who has already used it.

No idea pink-kittens. The person I allowed to use it did it. I am completely illiterate when it comes to the technical side of computers.

VHG - I think that is what she did. But how do you delete it. I have tried everything I can think of but it is still there. My knowledge is very limited.

To remove Windows Live Messenger:
Open the Control Panel.
In Windows 7 double-click Programs and Features
or
In XP double-click Add Remove Programs

Double-click Windows Live Essentials
Click Remove one or more Windows Live programs
Check the program(s) that you wish to remove
Click Uninstall
