If you're paid in pouds get the money paid into your UK account and use a debit card to withdraw cash. If you are paid in Euros open an account in Holland as the banks charge lot for conversion.

thanks johnk.....but if i open account in holland then i will have toi draw euros out, if i want to draw gbp sterling out then dutch bank will charge me a lot to give me sterling, dutch bank will be ok while i want euro in holland but then im going to denmark for 3 weeks on rig then 3 weeks off back home to ( belfast uk )
just use your ATM card in Holland, it will dispense Euros converted from the pounds in your account. In my experience, even with a nominal charge the rate is better than changing it up first anyway.
You'll get an even better rate at the Post Office if you're changing £1000 or over.
You will pay a conversion rate if you have the money sent back to your UK bank - why not open a Dutch account and just pay the money in there? A friend of mine was paid in euros to his English bank and there were a lot of transaction charges.

You will need euros to live in Holland, you can change them into Danish kroner when you go to Denmark. Or - easiest of all as others have said - get a debit card with your new Dutch account, and just draw out the money when you get to Denmark, then it'll come out of the ATM in the correct currency. No need to cart shedloads of cash about - that's really risky and a target for thieves.
^ then when you go home to Belfast, you'll still be able to use your debit card but will pay a conversion rate when you draw out in sterling again.
