Can anyone tell me what the voltage is on modern Colchester lathe lights, I know they are not 240 volt.

Sorry missed the lights bit, could be 12v or 24v
Many are now 12v .. with a transformer in the base or in lead ..
So you can use these ...

(These are the same as used in car inspection lamps .. so you can use on the car battery.
