I have asked the builders to put the extractor fan near the shower as this will be where all the steam is located and the room is quite long with the shower up one end. They have placed the extractor at the other end on the room above a towel radiator.
a) surely i will lose my heat for the heated towel rail out of the fan
b) the steam surely has a long way to travel to get to the fan now and will likely just settle as moisture?
c)The builders said as the extractor is at one end and the shower and door is at the other end, the door even when closed will allow new air in while the fan at the other end draws out the air at the other end???
Near the shower .. in the ceiling if possible (ducted .. which is quieter)
Ruddy nonsense.
You don't want draughts blowing through anyway, eh?

there's a pub near us that has an 3kw electric radiator on the men's toilet and would you credit it they have 12" extractor fan directly above this heater,
hot air rises from it and straight out into to the outside bl**din marvellous
Just a word of warning about putting it too close to the shower... ours is directly above the shower cubicle and keeps packing up because it gets clogged up or something.. because we live in a flat and the bathroom is an internal room we can't move it though :(
