As part of the building tender it says for the builders to tile all the room out and then install the sanitary ware. But it looks like they have placed the shower tray on the floor and are tiling round it. Won't this cause me problems if I chose to change the tray in the future and I have a gap where the tray is a different size. If I have paid for the whole thing to be tiled out (I am paying for the tiles separate) shouldn't it be the whole room, is there a problem with tiling under?

Thanks in advance

No problem at all with tiling underneath. That's what was specified, so that's what you should get......... except that the tray should be bedded on something. If they used silicone or a lightweight plaster (not sand and cement) it should all scrape off again if you change the tray.

Where's your "project manager"

on holiday pmsl
It would be easier to tile the whole floor and then fit the tray, someone has got ahead of themselves. If you change the tray or move it in future it will be very difficult to match the tiles so go with builders answer.

The builders are refusing to tile under now, even though the spec says floor to ceiling, they say it is too much trouble and too much time will be lost doing it. Plus I can't really see the tile backer board aqua board they were supposed to have installed? I have asked the project manager to inspect the works but he is not back till next week. So I have asked for works to stop due to the amount of mistakes. I will have to see what the project mangers fill in says in the morning.
