Some of you are probably aware of this, but for those of you that are not and especially with Christmas coming, when we expect parcels (if we are lucky). The following has been passed on to me:-

Postal Scam:

Please circulate this around - especially as Xmas is fast approaching. It has been confirmed by Royal Mail.

The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize .

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

For more information, see the Crime Stoppers website:

Sorry, didn't think to check crimestoppers link, assumed that it was a valid scam.
Sallybb -- thanks for that -- although I had read it previously a good while ago I had forgotten the detail to be honest --so from me a thank you.

actually, NHS fraud prevention says it HAS happened and that staff must watch out for this and similar scams!
"... it HAS happened"

Yes, 6 years ago before the phoneline was closed down.
Thank you sallybb !
They can eff off as far as I am concerned !
Everyone be sure to watch out for Dick Turpin on the run up to Christmas too.

Looks as though the hoax was a scam...or the scam was a hoax...
I have a simple way to protect myself.

I never, ever ring a number starting 09.

(Not even to vote on a reality show)
even if it is a hoax warning and the scam isn't going to raise it's ugly head - thanks to sallybb for her post made in good faith.
