i have a bt cordless phone which i've had for a few months. since moving house this month, the sound quality of the phone has been terrible. I can barely hear the person on the other end. I make sure the arial is up and even standing right next to the box the reception is bad. Anyone know what's wrong with it?

Sounds your phone got damaged in the house move rather than the new house being the problem (maybe something simple like your earpiece got moisture in it, but all I can do is guess).

Buy a new one form Argos. If the new one still doesn't work you can get your money back and can then spend some time investigating why the old one doesn't work in your new house.

Do recheck all the obvious stuff though. Get new batteries for the handset if possible or make sure the charging is working. Leave it somewhere warm and dry for a while. Check any connections by wiggling gently to see if the fault comes and goes. Finally try tapping or hitting stuff, nothing to loose!

You can also make sure that the base unit and the handset are set to the same channel settings, have a flick through your user manual, with some cordless handsets interference will start if the channels aren't set exactly.......

Ahh, Cleverclogs, a useful answer, however i have been stupid enough to throw the bl00dy instructions away!!

Why not google search the phone make and model number for operating intructions. I did this for a camcorder I bought and managed to get new Op/Ins for a couple of pounds..... Also with some phones the operating channels can be changed with a switch on the outside of the base unit and the handset, just make sure they are on the same channel, never know might get lucky.....
Hello, it's made by BT. What were you expecting?!
