just had an ipod4 32 gig for xmas.cant get it to connect to the internet. itdoes not recognise my sky number and password.I have sky broadband thro a small box NETGEAR which works ok with my laptop. Am I in need of someother piece of gadgetry.Can any ipod touch user help?

Do you have MAC address filtering enabled? If so, you'll need to enable access for the MAC address of any new device...

I had a problem with my iphone connecting to a wireless network recently. After trying loads of different things it was as easy as going into Settings>Wi-Fi> sliding it from On to Off and back on again.

After I did that it picked up the wi-fi no problem.

Have you tried the Apple help pages. They can be quite useful.

On my ipod touch I go to settings. You have to be in wifi area and then it will show which ones are available. Some likely to need a log in and password. Sorry if this is too simple and you know this already.

Every device which connects to a wireless network has a wireless adaptor, either inside it, or attached to it on some way. And every wireless adaptor has a unique number. In addition to the "standard" wireless security involving a password or passphrase, wireless networks can be configured to allow connections only from those devices whose unique number it recognises.

If this is how your wireless network has been configured, then you won't be able to connect any new devices until either you disable this additional validation (not recommended), or add the new device to the list of addresses that the wireless router recognises.
