I have been on the housing list 7 years and recently recieved a letter from the council saying that they are going to give workers priority housing, so i filled in the questionaire and told them that yes i do work, and now ive recieved another letter by them, wanting to know how many hours i work and also when i log into the council housing site that i bid on it says my claim is pending. I am not scared to tell them that i am working full time incase they throw me off the list... 7 years is a long time to be waiting all for nothing so i am wondering if any of u know if its true that workers are going to get priority housing, or if its a con to throw people off the housing list? Thanks in advance.
Steve's answer seems sound to me but asking us about a council policy, without telling us which council it is, isn't likely to get you an answer based upon fact.
no, they can't throw you off a list - anyone can apply. but, having said that, they may be underhand and give you less priority if you work (you have to check their policy to be sure). our council has a points based system and my working doesn't matter one bit. good luck x
