probably like my old ones!....they have rechargeable batteries, and then they won't charge after a few years!........you need to take them off the ceiling by unscrewing them, and then replace them.............
Well I have tried the unscrewing method and revealed a plethora of wires (that scared me so I've put it all back again). I shall employ the services of my mate the Electrician tomorrow (if I survive the night without sleep)
The majority simply unscrew as most people have said, take out the battery and unplug any connectors you see. No need for an electrician. Due to capacitive discharge it will most probably warble with it's death rattle for several minutes but will eventually shut up.
