Hi 'Tricky' I tried to answer all your questions using the 'reply' button but the mail has been returned as un-deliverable so I hope that this gets through to you.

Thank you for your interest Tricky, to answer your questions in order.

(a) USB
(b) I didn't have to, the installation process is all carried out by the CD
that came with the printer, I have no involvement during the installation
(c) See answer (b)
(d) Yes, I've re-installed the printer several times without any success
(e) I have my original HP printer still attached but I still use it to do
the job which this new one can't ot won't
(e) The message is too long to repeat here but essentially it says that
communication with the printer cannot be established which isn't true since
it prints very well.
(f) The installation puts 2 icons on my desktop one of which is
specifically for 'scanning' & this icon takes me through the process
including fireing up the printer which clonks away for a few minutes then
up comes the message about failing to communicate with the printer.(see (b)
again!!
