I have a Saunier Duval combi boiler which I've had since 1999 and I have 3 timer settings for the heating to come on during the day. Earlier on I pressed the on/off button to off as it was quite warm today, but when I checked the radiators well over an hour later they were still very hot. I had to pull the lever across to the summer setting to switch it off.

Does anyone know why the on/off button wouldn't be working when I click it to off? Do I need a new boiler?!

Ok Tiggs. From what I've read in the manual, when the on/off switch is set to off, the gas supply and electrical supply are shut off.
Either the gas valve isn't responding properly, or there's a fault on the circuit board so that it's not carrying out the shutting down procedure. Either way, you'll need a boiler man to check it over.
It could be something as...

Hi Bob, sorry didn't see you earlier,

Its a Thelia 23. The lever goes from side to side and shows the sun on the left and a snowflake on the right.

It could be something as simple as a sensor gone wrong. A gas valve wouldn't be too expensive, but a circuit board would cost £200 or more to replace. If you can get someone you can trust, he'll give an opinion as to whether it's worth repairing (just looking at the worst outcome.)

Thanks Bob :o)))

My dad knows a boiler man so I'll ask him to arrange a visit.
