I have a Philips DVD recorder which is approx 4 years old, I moved it from one room to another ,plugged it in switched it on ,all lights and start up commences on the window of the machine ,finally it says "No Disc" then "BLOCKED"I could not believe my eyes ,I contacted Phillips the man from Phillips he say Turn it off and back on again all to no avail ,he suggested to call an engineer ,this I cannot afford i have rarely used it .
If you should have any idea I would be so grateful.
Thank you

I too have a Phillips but a of slightly older age, I'm guaranteed to encounter this "blocked" issue every time (on the rare occasions) I fire it up.
The Plastic tray that holds the DVD warps and so sticks in the machine. I keep a flat bladed screwdriver at hand and use it to lever down the tray when attempting to open it. So far, so good.
Rymnt, Have you thought of trying to file down the raised edge of the tray so that it doesn't catch on the tray opening?? It could possibly cure the problem for good.
Just a thought!
Rymnt: Genius thank you so much, one would think that Phillips would know about this problem and do something about it ,thank s to Answer Bank we have a site that is both informative amusing and sometimes very sad .
DVD recorder is now in full working order. Thank you
