It will however draw more current under heavy loads and my be damaged if loaded heavily. It is also possible, though unlikely, that the transistor used in the speed controller cannot sustain the extra voltage.
As other have said, the battery simply won't fit.
Have you considered having the original battery fitted with new cells?
