I don't come on here very often as I have been using it mainly for 'serious' questions (and recipes) but got stuck in the house yesterday waiting for a repair man and came on and was on most of the afternoon poking about all the interesting stuff. Anyway, on some threads there is 'Answer removed' but I can't find any button or way to remove an answer you have given but then maybe thought better of it or you made an obvious mistake -how do you do this? Also there was a reference to a 'moderator (s)' do these people work for the AB? thank you.
The mods can't remove individual posts - only suspend or ban a user (with the option of deleting all that user's posts).
So they are very useful for evicting 'trolls', but have their hands tied rather when dealing with normally sane users who just 'go off on one' for some reason.
Its a shame you can't delete your own answers though isn't it? Who 'moderates' the Moderators? What if one went on a bender and suspended everyone they didn't like?
At the bottom of page there is a link 'Contact Us' Anyone can email the Eds and make any points they want. If a Mod did as you say they would soon not be a MOd.
If Mod's don't behave they are sent to the AB dungeon which is run by Monks. They are thrown in a cell until they are reprieved. But can only come back if the Editor allows it.
moderators don't get the key to the Ed's liquor cabinet, contrary to rumour. They're allowed the occasional Bailey's truffle but that's all. You can't suspend many people fuelled with one of those. And that's just for Christmas. The rest of the year the monks only allow them yaks' milk.
"oops! well that's me told...slinks away with tail between legs..."
My apologies if my answers were abrupt. We usually get this kind of question from users who have been banned/suspended previously with an axe to grind (because of course, nothing could ever be down to their own actions) - naturally I have little time for questions of this nature.
