I almost was today. I was in Harrods and the lift wouldn't go down to the lowest level. My husband pushed the buttons and nothing was happening, the doors wouldn't open. I took my coat and cardigan off immediately and was panicking big time! We prob weren't stuck in there for long (half a minute maybe), but it got me thinking about people who do get stuck and if you have, how did you cope?
Thank god the door opened as I really think I would have had a panic attack. If we had got stuck, I would have demanded some free goods from there lol.
Yes twice - same lift! I was there for over an hour the second time, it was in the building where I worked - we didn't get a new lift until a senior manager had found himself stuck in there!
Got stuck in the lift at work many years ago, rung the alarm bell, sat on the floor with the big tray of work and got on with it until they had wound the lift up to the floor by hand. They then had to get a special key that went into a slot to open the doors.
Yes once for half an hour, was going to see my daughter, she buzzed me through the security gate so knew I was on my way up to the 12th floor. She called the engineers and I did some knitting. LOL
Never been stuck in a lift but years ago where I worked they open lifts where you step on and off.I missed my stop which was the last one and it suddenly went dark.Talk about panic . But all it did was move across at the top and descend again .I was sweating cobs !
ummmm - we have to use lifts a lot as my husband is in a wheelchair. Never been frightened in them before but I am now!
The half a minute we were stuck felt like longer than that. I don't know how you coped nungate and mamy in there for that long.
I was panicking thinking that the alarm wouldn't work and what if I can't get signal on my phone etc.
I'll prob be having a nightmare about this tonight now lol
Quite a few years ago at work for about 30 mins. They managed to hoist the lift up to the nearest floor and opened the doors. Had about a foot or so to get up to the door, petrified the lift would plummet down before we were hoisted out.
Strangely enough, Miss C. it didn't seem to bother me either time don't know why, it's just the way I am. Maybe it's a good thing for me to be like this, as very little seems to faze me
micmak - I'm really not keen on Brad Pitt, he's not my cup of tea. If JLO or someone was in there, I'd probably be a real bag of nerves about having to talk to someone famous lol.
One night shift five of us were stuck in the pit shaft for about 3 hours the guy who was supposed to listen for the signals claimed he couldn't hear them because of the noise of the main ventilation fan we reckon he'd fallen asleep
Famous people are just people like you and I. If you act like you don't know who they are. Then they are just like you. You don't know them, they don't know you.
