Touch Light Not Working

When I switched one of my bedside lights on last night and got to the 3rd "tap", the lightbulb blew.

I replaced the bulb with a round bulb and now the touch won't work. Is it the bulb that is wrong or have I blown the whole lamp? TIA.

Check to see that there isn't an additional fuse inside the base of the unit that protects the electronic gubbins from overloads of this nature (sometimes caused when a bulb blows).
Unfortunately these touch switches have a tendency to fail if overloaded; I reckon the whole unit is knackered.

Thanks buildersmate. I'll check the base.
Check the plug is not earthed. The lamp is already double earthed, and won't work if the plug is earthed.
