SCART stands for Syndicat Francais des Constructeurs d'Appareils Radio et Television. It is a standard for a type of connector used to link TVs and associated equipment. The connector is also known as a Euro-connector. SCART actually does nothing, it just allows you to join pieces of equipment together. A SCART box therefore lets you have a video, dvd player and a games console all connected as inputs and a single output SCART socket to lead to your TV. The cheaper ones have a manual switch to switch between inputs.
