Ideal Standard Europa 24 / 28 Combi boiler
7 Answers
Hi, I have the above boiler fitted. Lately, it's starting to buzz when the hot water is drawn or the central heating fires up. The buzzing is coming from the circuit board and it's hit or miss if the boiler actually fires up. Is the circuit board on the way out, is it worth replacing it or shall I stump up for a new boiler? It was bought in 2003.

Anyway, I think it's well worth having it checked out. I think this is a gas boiler? Nine years is no time at all for a good gas boiler. If it's only a new board, I'd say go for it.

Mmmm ........ just looked that up. Yes, you're right. That's plenty enough money for a PCB. I think I would take the advice of a good boiler guy that you can trust.
Replacing the board will be the cheaper option for now, but if there are other faults, it may be better to replace the whole thing. Only 9 years old ....... I wouldn't give up yet :o)

I'm thinking, new board. Looks simple enough to fit, just 2 screws, 2 or 3 multi plugs, out and the new one in. I'm also looking at that 'Help Link' company that advertises new boilers for so much a month over 10 years. Thinking it might be worth getting a new one which is more efficient and also comes with a service contract and guarantee.
