Is there any way to find out registration numbers of cars I used to own?

Hoping someone can help me with this.

I am trying to find the registration numbers of 2 cars that I used to own back in 2002-2004.

I can only remember part of each registration number.

I have approached the car dealership that I bought both cars from, but they state that they changed their computer system 5 years ago and cannot therefore find these details on their systems.

DVLA can't help as they say that their records are based on the car, rather than the owner, so unless I can give them the full registration number (which is what I need to know) they can't help!

I have no idea who my insurer would have been at the time of owning these cars, either, as I usually just phone around/search on email and pick the lowest quote.

Does anyone have any idea how I can find this information?

Have you got any receipts for work that you might have had done on these cars ?

I only ask , as some people keep receips going back years

Did you have them serviced anywhere other than the dealership as garages usually keep records. Did you take a photo of the car?

If you had the cars MOT's, check with the garage that tested them.

Ask your husband/partner/boyfriend etc at the time.

If the car was a Ford etc, Contact the Customers Dept & explain that you have contacted the said dealer with no response, I'm sure the will help you.

haven't you got any old insurance documents filed away or old tax discs.
I have a list of all my 28 car & 5/6 Motorcycle registration numbers (call me sad)
plus some I had for breaking up for spares.
