VISTA problems
I have a problem printing, which seems to have surfaced very recently.
If I press the Printer symbol, at the top of the page, or use Control p, nothing happens.
I can print off a test page OK from within the Printer section in Control Panel, and if I print out an email from Outlook Express its OK. Printing out an old document from My Documents works OK as well.
If I use Chrome, which I am doing now, everything works OK.
So I presume I have a virus. But why has my Kaspersky Anti-virus program not found it ? Its up to date.
To honest, I have had some other problems using AB from within Vista. My keyboard is always missing letters. I use a wireless keyboard and have changed the batteries every week or so but I am now thinking that its maybe Vista which is at fault, as my typing on this message, from within Chrome is working perfectly OK.
Now there will be those of you out there in AB Land that say that Vista is rubbish and that Windows is the work of the devil, and that I should stay with Chrome, and you are probably right.
But how can I go about tackling this supposed-virus with Vista ( I don't really want to fork out for a Windows 7 upgrade, or Windows 8, which I have seen and don't like the look of.
While I am at it, doesn't Chrome have toolbars ? I am used to a lot of buttons !
I never had these problems on XP !

I have accessed the Guardian Crossword website, filled in the grid, gone to the print version page. When I try to print by "Control P" or by using the little printer icon at the top of the page, nothing happens. Normally the a little printer appears in the bottom right hand side of the screen, showing a document waiting to print, and then the printer fires up.

It's not a virus. I've just tried the same process using IE 8 on XP and it takes so long that I got fed up with waiting and closed it.
In Chrome it's instantaneous. Why not just use Chrome as your default browser? And what do you need al those buttons for? To access additional stuff in Chrome you can click the three little bars (top right) which will drop down a menu, or you can right-click.

Thanks rojash. But it worked OK yesterday and doesn't today, so that was why I think its a virus. Why else would it work one day and not the next ?
Until I can find out what the problem is I shall have to keep on using Chrome. I am not against Chrome but when you have used Windows for nearly 18 years, its hard to have to learn to use something else. But I shall persevere !
As for the buttons I am used to a browser that has a nice row of buttons on the task bar, without having to go looking in a drop-down menu.
For instance, my eyesight isn't terrible good, and it is easy to use a larger font in Vista than in Chrome. I have set it to use large fonts but according to "Settings" it might not work with some websites.

Mikey, Vista is an operating system and Chrome is a browser. It's apples and oranges. Do you mean you've been using internet explorer until now?
You can make any page bigger by holding down the Ctrl key and scrolling with your mouse. To return it to standard size hold down Ctrl and press the zero key.
