8d Poor clue. SANG is the past tense of SING; SUNG is the past participle.
Ergo "spilled the beans" should be SANG.
Just being pedantic!

To be even more pedantic Chambers Dictionary gives the past tense of sing
as "sang or (now rarely) sung. :o)

If I heard someone say, "I sung a solo at the concert yesterday", I would cringe!
"Sung" is only acceptable in the perfect and pluperfect tenses, as factor30 implies.
