Mm Links January 2013 Week 1 – New Players Welcome

This is Queen Christiana, the Cheerful One, full of mince pies and Christmas cheer, inviting old friends and new to join in this month’s ‘Guess the Links’ Game (Rules will appear in a new posting below).
Early last year I celebrated a Big Birthday and so decided to go on a Big Trip – to Australasia - for around three months. This month’s links will be based (loosely) on the places I visited, accompanied by my friend, Manxiemo, a widow, like me, whom I’ve known for many years.
First up was Hong Kong, where we travelled on the Star Ferry, visited Ocean Park, braving the cable cars and creating a furore by trying to take sandwiches in (in the end we smuggled them through), and also causing mayhem on the underground when Manxiemo got her leg caught in a turnstile (don’t ask!). Other highlights included a visit to a Buddhist Monastery on Lantau Island, and, on our last day, when the mist eventually departed, a trip up Victoria Peak with its far-reaching views over Hong Kong.

No best answer has yet been selected by Christiana. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.According to normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I shall follow this rule on word length, in that each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!
Each of the selected link words may go in front of, or behind my challenge word to make a new longer word or to make a well-known phrase or saying. The combination will never be a person's name.
The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when gen2 will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
