Besson & Co and Brevetee is engraved on it. The long bit is like those weird screwdriver thingies. Any idea what its for ?

that was quick, I thought it was a screw driver....thanx u genius :)
If it looks too small to hold a sheet of music, it's probably for holding a name card at each place at a formal dinner.
It's the sort of clip that would hold music on an instrument in a marching band.

Its too pretty to peg my washing with - now to find a good home for it, ebay is the place if anyone's interest @ 99p ?
Question Author
No silver marks so it must be plated
That is the the music holder that would fit on a trumpet or cornet as pp and jth have said. Besson were brass instrument makers and I have a Besson cornet that has an identical clip.
Music for marching bands is produced in small books or sheets.
Question Author
have you got a home for it shoota ?
Question Author
cant open that vulcan
No thanks Tambo - I have one for both of my trumpets and my cornet so another would be simply greedy :-)
Just remembered: it is called a 'lyre' because the shape of the arms looks like a lyre......
Drill a hole in your computer desk top tambo. Clip your copy in the err... clip, and stick it in the desk hole. That way you'll be able to read text that you want to type.
