New Baumatic Microwave, Just Fitted - Showing Error Code E - 11

Hi,
Just bought an integrated Combi Microwave, an electric Oven and a Ceramic Hob. All just been fitted. Once powered up, the microwave digits lit up, I set the time, then went to bed. The time was still displaying 5hrs later but within a couple of hours, it just showed Error E - 11. Nothing works. I've turned the power off & back on again quickly but the error code appeared immediately. Turned it off and left it for a good few hours.
When I next put power to it, it allowed me to set the time again. This time, without delay, I put a cup of water in and microwaved it for 2 minutes as suggested in the manual. That came out piping hot, no problem. A couple of hours later, I heard a Ping and the microwave was back showing Error E - 11.

I can't find anything online which explains what the E 11 stands for. I think Baumatic would prefer people to have to call engineers out. I don't want to mess with it or take it apart, but it bugs me that I don't know what the cause is. Can anyone tell me please?

We bought the 3 appliances from a small kitchen showroom shop. The hob was ex display and we were going to order the Oven & Microwave but he couldn't confirm how long we'd have to wait. We ended up taking the display models for a few quid less. All brand new, out of box (never wired up)
and placed in a unit on display. It's a small shop, we could see the items weren't bashed or damaged and we'd have taken them out of the boxes to inspect them anyway.
Would we have any problems with getting a replacement? As it is, I'm having to wait for a week for an engineer to come round. :-(

Please advise...

Your contract is with the retailer, not with Baumatic but a quick phone call to Baumatic might, at least, tell you whether it's a major fault with the appliance (as I suspect) or something which you can easily fix yourself. Phone 01189 336911 tomorrow (if you've not already done so) to see if they'll tell you anything.

If it's clear that it's not something that you can deal with, forget about Baumatic; take the product back to the retailer and demand a full refund under the terms of the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
