I wouldn't go for either, I'm afraid.
A new firm but not orthopaedic matress is what I would have.
I found the orthopaedic one we had to be just far too hard.
Have also tried memory foam type and didn't like it either.
Sorry to be so negative . :-(
Go for a water bed.
You really need to go to a store and try them out and not just for 30 seconds either. I love like mad my memory foam and it has helped my back and neck problems but many people can't get on with them at all
Bought a simple mattress topper. Much cheaper and made a geat deal of difference.
Don't go for memory foam - I beg you! Awful, AWFUL!!!!
you see spikey, you say awful awful, about memory foam; I say best thing since sliced bread.
I do think the quality varies and the cheapos give it a bad name though.
We have memory foam and it is absolutely fantastic.
I had an orthopaedic mattress but I may as well have slept on the ground.

Remember my mother having a dunlopillo mattress - it was a dream. Very very expensive but hers was great. Not a lot furnishing departments keep them but I think if you have it where you live "Bensons for Beds" may have dunlopillo - if not google it.
