Weathered Headlights

What household product can I use to clean the headlights on a car, Iv'e tried cilit bang, vinegar, but it has not made any difference, the lights have gone a yellow colour, and are quite dim to drive with at night,

Is the Yellowing on the inside or the outside of the headlight ?.

It's on the outside, and feels a bit rough,

Right then josaphine, you could get some very very fine wet and dry paper and gently rub it until the Yellowing has gone or use something like Brasso which will have a similar affect.

Forgot to say that if you go with the very fine wet and dry paper method keep the paper wet.

though a bit pricey, but it cleans the headlights in about a minute. You can get just the bottle of liquid on its own. I think Halfords do it, if not try your local independent car accessories place.

There's plenty on Youtube about this problem and one guy gets good results by using toothpaste !

I've used T Cut followed by Brasso. Works quite well.

Get a nice new pair - you could probably fine ones in good condition at a breaker's yard.

I cleaned mine using wet and dry paper ,wet,with hand soap rubbed into the abrasive(stops the paper clogging)and then polished the plastic with tcut
