How To Clean A

butler sink, it's getting quite coffee stained, marked, have tried elbow grease
not much use, filled the sink with hot water added soap powder, it's ok but doesn't really get it clean, any product on the market that will. I don't want to keep on wasting money - anything that will work on the loo as well.. if not something else?

Have you tried Barkeeper's Friend? It's a bit like Ajax but much more effective.

just looked on line and one site says they can't buy it, will look at sainsburys, or waitrose, is it effective, will it get the sink clean, and can it be used safely in the toilet as well, or do you use a separate product...

It will get the sink clean but I don't know about the toilet.

Surely ordinary bleach painted on would do it?
It won't do it any harm.

Thin bleach is cheap. Fill the sink with it to cover any staining and pour a load of it into the loo. Leave them both overnight.

I have an old butlers sink and found toilet cleaner/descaler to be effective.

looked in two supermarkets no sign of the barkeepers friend type cleaner, so will look online. have filled sink with soap powder and little bit of bleach, and see if that shifts some of the marks. looks unsightly...

If you are going down the washing powder route, be aware that biological is most effective.

yep I would have put bleach all round, left 15 mins then topped up with water and scrubbed round with washing up brush.

Bleach. I have a Belfast sink and it has no stains.

I don't understand how it's getting coffee stained. Are you tipping coffee in the sink and just leaving it there?

I use diluted bleach for all them type of things. Works wonders

I have an old Belfast sink and over time and use of abrasive cleaners has made it susceptible to staining. I have found toilet cleaner which removes lime scale and bio washing powder quite effective for my infrequently used sink.

no i don't tip coffee stuff and leave it there, it is getting stained though, will see what happens after i have emptied it in a while, if not clean will look at other suggestions.

and i do have bio washing powder...
