Saving Money
4 Answers
I have gas central heating throughout the house (bungalow) but in the living room just a gas fire. My sister has the same system in her bungalow. I have been putting the central heating on and leaving the doors open so that the heating can spread through the house. She has been doing the opposite by lighting the gas fire and leaving the doors open etc. We are both trying to save a bit of money on heating. Does anyone know which is the best way, mine or hers? We will take your answers and see what happens. I have the central heating on 20 but I don't really know what that means - could be 20 degrees?

Central heating I suspect is the better option but I would close the doors presuming you have radiators in the rooms you use. Stop any drafts.

Thanks everyone. I think maybe my system is better, because I am getting hot water as well - I had forgotten that. I left the doors open so that heating would go into the living room but from your answers I can see there are a few tweaks I can make which will still keep it warm but save money as well. I do not want to get cold, because of my age, but nevertheless, I still think I can stay warm and yet save money.
