I have signed up to photobucket and have managed to import one of my photos into the library section. Somehow, it is now doing a autobackup and seems to be accessing the 'My pictures' bit of the computer and is taking ages to 'copy' them. I don't like it and I want it to stop but I don't know what to do. Please help.

I guessing that you have the desktop connect option ticked

Untick and it should no longer automatically upload the pics from your pc, mine's not ticked and only the photos I select are uploaded.

Did you download the "Photobucket desktop"? Perhaps that's what's uploading your pics, only a guess though.

Frank, I don't know what I did! I have just done a system restore and it's still there. How do I get out of it? I don't want to use photobucket at all. I don't like some of the pictures that come up on the homepage!

Apart from uninstalling it from your programme list I don't know, as I only access PB through the web.

Oh flippin' heck! What have I done? It's not in the programmes list. I uninstalled the photobucket back up programme. I'll try another system restore.

Hi Tilly2, sorry I cannot find out how to uninstall. have you tried the help centre, maybe you can find a way to delete what you have on it.

I have tried that katburd, thank you. It doesn't actually tell you how to uninstall the wretched thing. I hate it when things are happening which I have no control over.

Don't know if this is too technical but you could use Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902 to try to find which program that is loaded at Windows start-up might be responsible, and then stop it running automatically.

hardly a rescue - it might allow the identification of the program that's responsible, removing it from the system might prove altogether more difficult if it's not in the list of installed programs

Thanks, bibblebub. I've had a look at that and find it really scary. It's a step too far for me, I think.

I have done a search on my computer and found all the files relating to photobucket. When I tried to uninstall the main one, it said that I couldn't do that because it was being used by another user. That scared me as well. (I'm easily scared!)my

Is there an icon for that program in the tasktray (usually bottom right on the desktop)? If so try right-clicking on it and see if there is an Exit or Close Option.

There was, bibblebub but it disappeared when I uninstalled the 'backup' programme. I have emailed them, in reply to their welcome email and said that I don't want to subscribe as I find it unweildly. I have not yet had a reply. I have signed out and will not sign in again. That'll teach me not to be such a clever dick.
