Have Freeview box 2 scart sockets, have VCR 2 scart sockets, why can I not record if running scart from Freeview to VCR toTV ?

Check you have the cables in the correct slots - usually they will say which one goes where eg. tv, vcr etc. On the video you may have one tht is for Av in/out and one for Av in.

Try swapping the cables around.

I'd be surprised if a VCR has a Scart socket as an input. (They're usually for output only). However many VCRs accept an external signal through RCA (= 'phono') sockets. If so, you need a Scart-to-phono lead for the connection and, of course, to ensure that the VCR is set to record from 'AV' (or 'Ext' or whatever label your model uses) and not from a numbered channel.
