Easiest Way To Get Catch-Up Tv (Iplayer Etc)
4 Answers
We have a Sony 3 year LCD 32" TV which serves us well. We watch very little Tv, but tend to want to watch things we've missed!! This leads us to waqtching catch-up TV on a Laptop.
I am aware that many new TVs are known as "Smart" and offer internet connectivity, IPlayer and much more, but I don't want to buy a TV at this point. I know that there are blu-ray players which also offer similar internet access, catch-up TV etc, and this would be a cheaper option, although we do have a perfectly good DVD Player (but not blu-ray).
Aside from connecting the laptop to the TV, what is the simplest, least costly way to get Catch-up TV on our existing LCD TV.
Thanks

The benefit is that there's no time limit for watching programmes you've recorded; once recorded they are always there, whereas on, say, BBC iPlayer there's usually only a few days in which you can watch them. Can't see why you can't or won't connect the TV though.
Do you have Sky TV? Do you have a wireless router for your Internet? I have Sky TV but I get my broadband from VirginMedia. I recently bought a small wireless connector box from Sky for around 20 quid, which allows me to connect my SkyHD box to my Virgin broadband via my router. This gives me Anytime Plus which includes CatchUp and ITVPlayer, BBC iPlayer etc. It doesn't cost any extra on your Sky subscription for this, apart from the one-off payment of 20 quid for the wireless connector box.
If you search "smart TV box", you will find stuff like this:
