Ford Escort Immobiliser

Does anyone know if there is an immobiliser fitted on a 1991 ford escort convertible. by ford during manufacture. I asked about it before. the immobiliser that was controlled by a fob has been completely removed and the car still wont start. the ignition dosn't turn on at all. Battery is fine. car still wont start.

If there was an aftermerket immobiliser fitted then any factory system shold have been disabled at the time of installation. You just don't fit an immobiliser on top of another. In any case they very rarely fail.
Join the AA or RAC and get one of their patrols to give it the once over (after a couple of days). It's an old car, look for other problems.

I believe they started fitting immobilisers to Escorts in 95 as standard and it was by way of a chipped key.

fords system was built into the key PATS(passive anti theft), the chances are an aftermarket one would either cut the power to the ignition system or in some cases the fuel pump(im assuming being a Cabriolet its an EFi engine)
Any competent electrician should be able to sort it out.

Thankyou for your answers the aftermarket immobliser has been removed and the car still wont turn over. I know I can get it fixed at a garage but I don't have the money to get it fixed there. I'm on my pension and need my car to get about. Green Flag will only tow it to a garage. I'm relying on a friend who is very good at fixing my car but he is stumped he's been trying for ages to find out whats wrong, and someone said there was another immobiliser put on by ford but Ford didnt fit them till 95. Its a EFI engine and a cabriole so im in a fix

if the ignition isnt turning on my 1st thing to look at would be the ignition relay or ignition switch.
