19" Toshiba, 18 months old, keeps turning itself off, then on again.
Batteries have been replaced, there is no way the remote is being touched accidentally. 4 tv's in the house, this is the only troublesome one.
Atmospherics??

Too hot?
Is the on/off button stuck in an odd position? Personally, I would just unplug it when I wasn't watching it.

The button looks fine, I would need to be an Olympian to scrabble under my work table to get to the plug. ROFL It's plugged into a Belkin thingy.
My grandads TV used to turn off when the channel wasn't changed for a certain amount of time.
I have 2 TV's that turn themselves off if channels aren't changed for a while. I don't know how long the inactivity is for.

How odd, soooooo channel hoppers are fine, tut eh?
If it automatically turned itself off after a period of time it wouldn't turn itself on again. It may be overheating, is it in a warm place? such as in the sun or are it's ventilation slots blocked? Try directing a fan at it, if the fault vanishes then you know where the problem lies.
Is it a too clever for its own good tv that turns itself off if it detects no movement in the room for a certain time?

Spooky!
Apparently it is properly called a motion sensor or presence detector.
Have you gone into settings to check the sleep timer? Our tv would be on when I would get in from work, sent an email to LG who tried to be helpful but weren't. I happened to look in the settings and the timer was set to switch on in the morning after we had all left for work/school.

Worth checking :)

I think it has adequate air circulation, it's on top of a metre high bookcase with plenty of space all round.
I have just checked the settings, no programme or sleep timer is selected.
When it happens, it goes off and then comes straight back on.
The remote sits on my desk next to the bookcase, so it's a good foot below the tv level.
Most peculiar, I will try the fan this evening.
Is there a naughty teenager with a zapper giggling outside your window?
Question Author
Hahahaha, not this time, they got me on that about 15 years ago :)
Question Author
Errrr, it hasn't actually done it tonight, very odd.
