Some horrible person scratched my daughters car deliberately with a key or some other sharp object. Someone was telling us that you can get some sort of paste to repair it with but the scratch has gone right through to the metal so don't think it would work. Has anyone heard of this paste? Thanks.

If its penetrated the sub layers, then the only answer is to respray the local area at the very least.T cut or Farecla G3/4 will only take out minor scratches on the surface.
In my opinion, if a scratch has gone that deep, there is nothing on the market that can get rid of these marks. When my granddaughter was tiny, she scratched my daughter's car with a stone and Nothing worked.
I'm afraid the only answer is a full re-spray of the panel and all the costs that that entails. Sorry.
She could claim on her insurance, possibly.
We've used this here in the U.S. and works pretty much as advertised... some colors better than others. You might see if it's available in the U.K.

Clanad...this product will give results only to the partially sighted ...and on very limited colours...and on minor scratches.....a prep and repaint is the only answer for anyone who values their vehicle
Could be BRIGHT SPARK, but our neighbor who has only one eye, drives a black car that had several scars that were more than skin deep, it worked very well, especially since the treatment cast $45 (US) and a comparable paint job was a minimum of $550
