Oil Heating

My oil boiler is coming on but there is no water going to heat the radiators.
The pump is working anyone any idea before I call an engineer. Is there some sort of valve opens to release the water might it be stuck? We have also heating off a wood burner which is connected by a neutraliser to both systems which is still working fine.

Had the same problem last year, it was a blockage in the pipe above the water pump

I had this between an aga and an immersion heater and drew bath loads of water off forcing the blockage, an air lock, to clear after about 3 baths equivalent........

I am alluding to the possibility that you have run out of oil.

We had a similar problem earlier in the year. A faulty motorised valve was responsible.

It's a diverter valve (directs flow to either HW or CH depending on which one is selected.

After a summer lay-off, they often stick. A tap with a hammer usually fixes it.......... if you can find the valve. Is there an airing cupboard with a copper cylinder?

thankyou all for answers slight tap with hammer has done the trick. Yes airing cupboard with tank hubby just tapped with hammer and radiators started to heat. Thanks probably saved us a fortune.

Knowing nothing about the technicalities of central heating, I hesitated to post my idea, but I'm pleased it's sorted. :o)
