Male And Female Technology

Inspired by carrust's dishwasher antics ...

... have you noticed that technology (or at least the ability to understand and use it) is very much split by sex.

Dishwasher - female

Lawn Mower - male

Washing Machine - female

Electric Drill and other Power Tools - male

Audio Visual (TV etc) - entirely male once it goes beyond 4 channels
Iron - well obviously ...

Cars - entirely male once it involves anything grubby or any opening of the bonnet

Vacuum Cleaner - mainly female - except for big dysons which seem to be a bit male


There's nothing inherently different (or indeed difficult) about any of the various technologies - so are we all products/captives of our stereotypical upbringings?

Ahem, I deal with all technology in our house, OH is petrified of power tools, can't use a PC without guidance and gets mad with the TV and SKY when they don't do what he wants.
