Breakfast this morning, cyclists killed by HGVs / Motorist, they suggest banning HGVs in the Big Cities first thing in the morning, if Cyclist used the roads safely they would not be killed, how many times have you seen Cyclists go through Red lights/ coming up the side of you/ cutting in front of you, if they want rules for Cyclist, let them pay to use the road.

This is me, riding as per the Highway Code(that's why I included me stopping at the lights at the start of the video) in my brightest clothing on a white bike with lights on, even though it was daylight. Apologies for several expletives at the end!

I'm not anti-cyclist, but they represent a large group of road users who need no training and pay no fees of any kind before taking to the road, and then in a lot of cases behave like idiots.
The argument that they may well own a car which they tax and insure doesn't work either, it doesn't cover their cycling activity.

I was in Sandwich (Kent) pulling out into a one-way street, traffic going left to right in front of me, good look to the left, quick look to the right, just in case, check left pull out and had a lycra clad cyclist go over the bonnet 'cause he'd hit my O/S front wing, coming the wrong way round the one-way system.
How lucky can you get, the first car to appear on the left was a marked Police car the crew of which saw him picking himself up with his bike still against my car.
After a brief chat with Officers he agreed to pick up my repair bill, which he did, and nothing more was heard about it.
I'm going to hold my hands up a bit here.
I cycle way more than I drive, partly because you can't park around here. If I'm heading back to The Lanes from, say, Waitrose (Waitrose to Starbucks being a well cycled route for me), I cut across the road at Churchill Square, cycle down the pedestrian ramp, avoid the lights, cross the road to Lloyds bank, into the pedestrian precinct, into Ship Street, and I'm there. And that ride is all downhill, so quite fast.
And I know I should get off and walk, or stay on the road. I know that.
But none of us do.
So I'm totally pro cyclists. But I also realise that we are not angels. We do take liberties. And when we get hurt, we moan about the horrid car drivers. But there are two sides to every story.
Incidentally, the cycle path on the sea front is on the footpath, not on the road. Visitors from out of town hardly ever notice it. They cross the road towards the sea front, avoid the cars, and then step straight into the path of the bikes.

Bush bike? No, you can't get 24 tons of food on a push bike, i wasn't suggesting you tried. I suggested banning HGVs from big city centres in the morning, like the OP mentions. Food, clothing, all all the other stuff we buy could be delivered during the night maybe. Lets separate the use of the streets for goods and people and make them safer places.

90% of cyclists i see while driving in my area have no lights back or front, this is even on winding country lanes at night and to boot no reflectors and wearing dark clothes. these are not just kids either prob most of them ( and male i must add) have most likely got a family at home poss young kids, you can pick up a pair of led lights in cheap shop for £2 !
