however, the keypad is pretty poor if you txt a lot. if you just send the odd txt and mainly use it for calling its fine, but for serious txting its not too great. going off the networks you quote i guess you're american, so probably dont txt (sms) that often anyway.
also it still uses the common motorola UI which is terrible, compared to sony ericssons and nokias.
otherwise, its pretty wide, but incredibly thin and very high quality. loud ringer: i think so. vibrate and ring: yes. speakphone: not tested it.

that's a good review of it (i trust the reviewer, he's pretty right most of the time).

thank you fo3nix, yes im an american, i text my wife every day to decide whats for dinner or to tell her im on my way home or simply to say i love you. what happens to the keyboard with repeticious texting? also, what is UI ? i have not always had alot of luck with motorola so i need to look into this particular phone and get some feedback on it. I was also looking at the sony ericson, dont know the model # but its the one that pivots in the middle instead of flip.
texting is catching on there i belive :)
the keys are just very 'thin' to the touch, they dont depress much. i'd recommend going into a store and trying it out first, just to make sure you're comfortable with it.
by UI i mean User Interface, i.e. the screens and things. i used to own a moto v600, which has a near-identical UI to the razr. just small little things that annoyed me, like it slowing down very easily, and when typing a txt message it doesn't save what you've typed so far. so you could be right at the end of your message, and often i'd accidentally press the 'hang up' key, taking me back to the home screen. going back into the text message screen, and what i'd typed would be gone!
i now have (and have for over a year) a nokia 6230. just a brilliant little phone, that does everything you want, and does it brilliantly. i can hardly fault it. no flashy looks, but it Just Works.

Just got a razr and I am very pleased with it. I like the large screen and large keys. It has no arial stub to poke you when it is in your pocket and the shape sits in my pocket or handbag well. Ring is loud, it will vibe or it will vibe your ringtone. I understand that the silver version has been discontinued by Motorola now. I have a noir.
Got mine as a free upgrade, so not sure what else is in the price band
