How Do I Transfer Norton Antivirus License From One Computer To Another?
5 Answers
I've been using Norton Antivirus (Norton Internet Security to be precise) for the past six year. My subscription came with 3 licenses so I use one on my Windows XP computer, another on my laptop (Windows Vista) and I let my niece use the third one on her computer (Windows XP). There has never been a problem until just before Christmas when my niece's computer died on her. She bought herself a new computer and I thought it would be a simple matter of me logging into my Norton account and transferring the license from her old computer to her new machine but it seems this is not the case! There's absolutely no mention of transferring licenses in Norton's FAQs. I've googled for a solution but the general consensus seems to be you have to remove it from your old computer first BUT how can I do this if her old machine has completely died (major hard drive crash)?
I fear now, that Norton will charge me for an additional 4th license if I attempt to download and install NIS on her new computer. Does anyone know of a simple and straightforward way of transferring a licence (as oppose to purchasing an additional one)?
I'd greatly appreciate any help with this problem.

Incidentally, I do have Windows 8 computer, which I bought just over a year ago (and have since upgraded to 8.1) that actually came bundled with a 4-year subscription to McAfee. To be honest, there seems to be mixed reviews regarding Windows Defender although I probably will start using it when my current McAfee expires.
However, getting back to my Norton license problem, I think if push comes to shove, I'll contact them directly and see if they'll cancel the license on my niece's broken computer so that I still have one license remaining.
Thanks again. ;)
