bert - the extra £1.10 is for Royal Mail Signed For service which is not tracked. It goes in the ordinary post but is signed for at the other end and you can check on line that it has been signed for. Jesmond is on about Parcelforce which is different from Royal Mail, and yes is tracked the whole way, signed for upon delivery, covered up to £100 and guaranteed to get there on a certain day. I work in a Post Office and cannot tell you how many people thing that by paying £1.10 extra their item will be guaranteed to get there the next day, or is tracked the whole way. Sorry, but it doesn't work like that.
