Long Dishwasher Cycle

Just bought a new Bosch dishwasher and was surprised that the 'eco' cycle took 2 and a half hours. Haven't tried any other cycles yet but wondered if anyone knew if this sounded right? It must have used a lot of electricity during that time!

I got a Bosch last year and was horrified to find all programmes were at least 2 hours long except for 1, the quickwash which is only about 38 mins. I use that all the time now but it isn't enough to deal with really dirty pans etc.

That's interesting, Prudie. Think I'll try the 'quick cycle' next time and maybe do the pans by hand. Had a Bosch before and the longest (intensive) cycle was less than 2 hours!

Is it because they use less water or something?

We have a Bosch and use the eco cycle most of the time. Most electricity is used heating the water and the eco wash is cooler than the others so uses less electricity overall. The electricity used to pump the water round is trivial compared with heating the water.

Thanks for that info bhg. I emailed Bosch to ask them what the different cycle lengths were, as there was no mention of it in the handbook. Hoping for a reply tomorrow.

I have a bosch and the longest cycle only takes just over an hour, and dishes are sparkling. 2 and half seems a long time to me. But on the other hand it doesn't use much electric, its cheaper than using water from tap or boiling kettles. Make sure you use really good dishwasher tablets. I use Finish and they are only £1 for 10 in poundland compared to £2.99 for same thing in Tesco. They work fine. Hope this helps.

I forgot to say - our (approx 5-year old) Bosch takes 2:20 for an eco wash.

The eco wash cycle on my new Bosch dishwasher is 3 hrs 15 mins!!!
