Thank you "Slackalice" shows what I know hence name.The problem is does this occur as a persistent fault.?Power drop off. I appreciate your answer.

If the particulate filter is clogged it could create back pressure in the exhaust system which could explain your power drop off.I think it is akin to stuffing a potato on the end of an I.C.E exhaust pipe.The engine eventually stalls due to back pressure.

If it's the filter 'blocking-up' every so often, you probably would have been better off with a petrol engine, My OH drives a 170bhp Tdi 4x4 DSG, never had a problem, I would guess you have a 'light' right foot.

If you drive a diesel car with a DPF it will get clogged up if you drive only short journeys. You need to give the vehicle a longish run once a week and, once warmed up, go through the gears with high revs.
