help someone please! i have an ipad, updated to ios 7 and the caps shift key has started to act like the caps lock. you may think this is no problem, after a capital letter is just a capital letter right. not so. my passcode on my router is all in capital letters, however they are capital letters using the shift key and not the caps lock. it took us ages to find this out when we persistently typed the passcode onto the laptop using caps lock and were informed this was the wrong password. i never realised that caps by lock and caps by shift were recognised differently. now i am not able to connect to my router on the ipad. i keep losing connection and have to forget the wi-fi and start again. now that the shift is behaving as though it is lock the router will not recognise the password. i have tried disabling caps lock in settings but still not working. any suggestions please.

What are your settings in General - Keyboard

I have enable caps lock selected and have no problem with my keyboard

i have no caps shift at all now. i have lower case and caps lock. the caps shift key has completely disappeared - i.e. no blue arrow, only black outline and black filled in arrows. i am now totally unable to connect to the internet. it was absolutely fine until today
On my iPad there is a single shift key - tap once for shift, tap twice for capslock.

yes, that is what i have. tap once for shift but when tapped once, lock comes on. there is no shift no matter how few or how many times i tap it, the blue arrow that comes with shift is absent, all there is is a black arrow, i.e. lock. my router will not accept a pass code in caps lock, only in caps shift. this why i have the problem. i dont care much how i get a capital letter when typing but it matters greatly when i am trying to get the ipad connected to the internet. which i cant do.
Caps lock on an Ipad 2 using IOS7 is a white arrow on a black background and only appears if 'enable caps lock' is set in the keyboard section of the general settings option.

As an aside, there SHOULD be no difference in a capital letter generated using shift or caps lock it's a standard data string that is incapable of being recognised differently. It sounds a little as if you aren't getting caps lock and you aren't entering your password in all upper case

All of the settings are correct. what i have on the keypad for caps is a grey background with a fully black arrow. for lower case, it is a grey background with a black outline arrow. there is no caps lock facility at all even though caps lock is is enabled. however, bizarrely what appears to be a caps shift is behaving, in so far as recognition is concerned, as caps lock. i can assure you that in respect of the wi-fi router, caps shift and caps lock are very different (confirmed by the lady at sky who supplied the router). the router is case sensitive, and evidently caps lock and shift are different. it is the same on the laptop, using caps lock gives the message that the passkey is wrong. i have upgraded all the softwear on the ipad and i have a nasty feeling that this might be hardware at fault. usually i dont use capitals to need to have caps lock but for passwords it is important. however, the nice lady at sky has enabled me to change the passkey for the router to use numbers instead of capital letters, so at least i can now connect the ipad. the problem arises if i have problems connecting, which i sometimes do, and have to reset the router. this then takes it back to factory settings and i would have to start all over again.
