I have just posted a letter to France but just realised that I've forgotten to put stamps on it!  1) Will it get there?  2) Who picks up the postage costs?

Any advice appreciated.

The recipient is usually asked to pay the postage on receipt of letter. If the person isn't in, the postman usually puts a note thro' the door saying there's a letter at the sorting office awaiting collection. Hope that helps.
We got a card (in Ireland) posted by mistake without stamps the other day bruce.  It was just sent through letterbox with other post and nothing said.  So I suppose if the postman knows ther perdon he might let it go.
Someone once sent me a letter without a stamp, and they'd scribbled "Freepost" between my name and the first line of the address. Very cheeky... but it worked!

heh heh. i might send an unposted letter to myself and see what happens! thanks for the idea :>
