Fridge should have a temperature of between 37°F(3°C) and 40°F (5°C). .
The ideal freezer temperature is 0°F (-18°C)
Manual thermostat for setting the temperature in both the fridge and freezer.
The numbers 0 - 5 on the dial relate to power levels, rather than °C temperatures. To lower the fridge freezer temperature you would turn the thermostat up to increase the power - making it run colder.
What have you got your settings on ??
Question Author
Its only got the one dial redman and that is on 3 I have defrosted it the interior lights not coming on either now
I would set the Dial at 4 as this controls both Fridge and Freezer.
Interior light should be easy to replace, take old one out and replace with similar
Question Author
Thanks just seems strange light was working until I defrosted it
Check Temperature tomorrow, hopefully it will be OK by then.
Take out Bulb and have a look at the element, you should be able to see if it's blown.
They are cheap enough to buy
Question Author
I think its given up the ghost I cant even hear a motor running now
Check the Plug Fuse which connects to Wall Socket.
Fuse might have blown
Should be 5Amp Fuse

Silly question but.......

is it switched on / plugged in properly?
Question Author
Yes checked all that cant be a fuse the actual yellow switch inside the fridge is on
''yellow switch inside the fridge is on''
By that do you mean Mains Indicator Light ??
Never heard of a 'Yellow' switch

From another site

the button is a super freeze option -what it does is runs the motor constantly without cycling to freeze down quicker ,it bypasses the thermostat ,used when you might do a big freezer shop ,you normally hit this switch for a couple of hours -
however if the button is left on constantly it will cause problems as its bypassing the stat and running the motor too much and could burn it out
unplug your fridge let it defrost ,plug in again and let it start cycling without that switch on ,if you still get problems it may be too late for your fridge

Think thats the problem then Baldric this switch has always been left on, unfortunately looks like time to invest in a new one, thanks guys for the help
Just to note, depending on the model, there should be a place inside the fridge compartment (low down on one wall in our case) where you can feel heat. This is normal. I think this is something to do with the automatic defrost facility. Might be worth checking the handbook/search for information about your particular model. May not be relevant in your case but thought worth mentioning. Good luck.
