Had A Little Giggle Today....

We are 'eagerly' awaiting Le Grand Depart in Yorkshire. Roads have been re-surfaced and hedges and byways trimmed back. Campsites advertised and the market towns and villages are in lockdown on the 5th & 6th July while the bikes whizz past. Yellow painted bikes are placed all along the route. Our friend has a small cafe in Otley, and the only way he can open for business -for tourists- is by sleeping in the cafe overnight because no vehicles are allowed on the cycle route from 7am. And this has brought out out cyclists old and new, ie loads of lycrad bums, never seen so many. Today we came across a rather tubby chap standing at the side of the road dressed in beautifully coloured lycra which showed every inch of his torso, he was desperately trying to adjust his family jewels, his bike (with a saddle that looked like a razor blade), discarded by the roadside. I think I may safely say that this will be his final attempt to get to France. Has anyone else got this cycling craze or is it just Yorkshire?

There was a bloke really not designed for lycra in Aldi today with an odd looking codpiece type nappy thing obviously designed to save him bits from suffering on a bike, but I don't think it was anything to do with a new cycle craze, I suspect he always looks like a prat. Couldn't take my eyes off it honestly, and not for good reasons ;/

I wasn't in Yorkshire today.... ;0)
I do have to say that despite not being designed for lycra (VERY not designed) anymore I still love getting out on the bike and I'm really don't care what folk think. I suspect this guy is very much the same. There was a feature in one of the cycling mags last year about a guy that weighed 27st had gotten himself healthy by cycling, at that stage he'd lost over 10st and was fitter than at any time in his life blood pressure within normal limits everything. It is brilliant low impact exercise

It's coming smack bang right thru our town and I must admit I'm a bit excited to be apart of it! Our town looks brill with all the bunting and all the local schools have had the kids paint tshirts and they are hanging in the market place and down the streets! Looks brill! Nice to see such community spirit too :)
Slapshot the guy I saw today was in pain - the lycra was fitting rather closely. I suppose it would do him good in the long run, hopefully he won't be put off, maybe get bigger shorts.
Wingnut there are quite a few small towns and villages on the main route, the bunting is already flying in Skipton, Otley, Ilkley and Arthington are doing great. Harrogate will be closed to traffic though, so I don't know how deliveries will be affected.
