Hi I have been off sick with post bereavement depression and anxiety for 4 months and have produced sick notes from GP. I have been in touch with the company and OH. Yesterday I had a meeting with the managers and HR to discuss phased return to work. I was told that my pay will be adjusted according to the hours I work. I thought that I would be paid normally during the phased return to work as long as I produce doctor's sick notes. What should I expect?

Thanks

I only know from my friend who was on maternity leave and had a phased return back. She was allowed ten shifts- paid at normal rates. If she did any more, it would start affecting her maternity pay. Whether that is the same for all benefits I'm not sure.
It might be worth looking on the Directgov site for an official answer. I hope you're feeling better now x
It depends on your contract of employment with respect to sick pay. If you are one of those fortunate souls who benefits from full pay for a certain number of weeks, and you are still within the period for which full payment is made, you should be entitled to normal pay. (In these situations the company claims back from HMRC the statutory pick entitlement you had).

If you are not entitled to full pay, but a reduced figure (say 50%), then you would get the higher of either the 50% (used as my example), or the proportion of the hours you work during phased return.

So if you were working 3 days per week, you'd get 60%.
Pixie. The answer has nothing to do with statutory benefits, but everything to do with the individual's contract wrt sick pay.
its completely down to your work's sick pay policy, i'm on phased return at the moment and being paid in full (this is my eighth week and my first day back in the office)

you should be able to see a copy of your companies employee policies
