I have had a card through the letter box telling me that I need to collect a letter from the office and pay £1.53. Can I go to the office and ask to see the letter and then refuse to pay if it is something that I do not want ?

Thank you janbee
I asked to see the letter and saw it was junk that I didn't want. I don't know what the PO then did with it.
Yes - if you refuse to accept it, they return it to the sender.
You can ask to see the envelope but obviously can't open it and then say that you do not want it. This has happened to me on a few occasions.
What, they wouldn't let you open it ?
For shame.
